Application
C11 TopFluor® Ceramide-1-Phosphate may be used to study its effect on the migration of pancreatic cancer stem cells (PCSC) using confocal microscopy.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Ceramide-1-phosphate (C1P) is capable of blocking cell death in bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs). It controls the growth and survival in various cell types. C1P bioactive sphingolipid is known to modulate the proliferation and differentiation of photoreceptors. C1P controls apoptosis. It acts as a pro-inflammatory agent and plays a key role in phagocytosis. Ceramide-1-phosphate is well known as a second messenger and an important mediator of inflammatory response.
General description
The availability of this new fluorescent metabolite provides the researcher with new ways to track cell migration and G protein coupled activity.
Ceramide-1-phosphate (C1P), an anti-apoptotic lipid is produced with the help of ceramide kinase (CERK) by the direct phosphorylation of ceramide.
